Do you have your RV ready for the open road yet?
Spring has sprung, regardless of what the temperatures may say. We look forward to the warmer weather, so we can start planning our road trips. Will you be headed out on the open road in your RV? Some many things you have to do before hitting the road again with your RV.
Here are 8 great tips to get your RV ready for this year’s road trips
- Give it a good look over: Check for any water leaks or damage. Check all the seals on windows and skylights. Check the tires to make sure there is no dry rot. Roll out the awning and check for any tears that may need to be repaired.
- Clean it up: A pressure washer should get off any stubborn dirt. Once the outside is shiny, head inside and give it a good cleaning. Open all the windows and doors and let it air out.
- Check Hoses and Valves: Check LP lines open the tank valve all the way and smell carefully for possible leaks. Also, run a soapy water solution around the valves and look for bubbles. Be sure that all leaks are detected and fixed properly. Also, inspect the sewage dump hose for punctures and signs of wear and tear.
- Check Batteries: Batteries should be cleaned and tested at the beginning of each season. Be careful when doing so and wear protective gloves and goggles
- Smoke Detectors: Test Smoke Detectors and change batteries
- Check Tanks and Fluids: Drain antifreeze from holding tanks, shut off the water heater bypass and refill the propane and water tanks according to manufacturer’s instructions. Don’t forget to check faucets, plugs and valves for leaks and fix where necessary. Run enough water through each faucet to be sure that all RV antifreeze is removed.
- Appliances: Test fire appliances after getting the gas and water systems up and running.
